Longstanding Rotarian George Schroeder introducing his son Philip for his classification talk.

This Week:  Today, Philip Schroeder, gave his classification talk and we all enjoyed his dry wit.   Philip told of us of his early years in Stratford attending Bedford, King Lear and Stratford Central.  He attended Lakehead University and then travelled to SouthEast Asia where he experienced some great adventures such as by riding a motorcycle through a forest fire north of Chiang Mai in Northern Thailand and experiencing the December 26 Tsunami (from a safe distance).

Philip then settled in Japan where he taught English as a second language, married the lovely Saori and started a successful business working with Japanese companies on training and translation of material into English.  Philip enjoyed Japanese society and talked of Shintoism, an ancient religion, where living sincerely will lead one to live morally.  Philip recalled the devastating Tsunami that hit Japan and was gratified at the international aid to Japan.

Philip recently moved here with Saori and their daughter Amy so that she could get an English education.  Philip said he was blessed to have lived in Japan and grateful to be home in Stratford.  We welcome Philip to our club.
