This Week:  Today Rotarian Nick Aroutzidis provided an update on NA Engineering a company he founded in 1994 where he is president and CEO.

Nick was born in Athens and moved to Canada in 1978 where he completed Grade 13 and ESL.  He then went on to Western where he obtained a degree in applied mathematics.  From there he went to the U of Waterloo where he earned his Bachelor and Master Degrees in Civil Engineering.

NA has a staff of 61 with offices in Stratford, London, Kincardine, Markham and Woodstock.  Their projects include mechanical, electrical and structural engineering, nuclear, municipal, environmental, building sciences and fire protection. To date they have served 3,646 clients and have done 8,605 projects.  The Company is growing at a rate of
10 - 20% annually.

Nick is particularly proud of his work in the nuclear field where he competes directly with much larger firms.  To get into this field he had to complete the ISO 9001 program (Quality Award) and 3 other CSA programs one of which will be completed this year.  Maintaining these programs cost $120,000 – 150,000 annually, but they are essential to tender for major projects.

NA’s goal is to deliver value and superior results.  Nick balances business with charity work of which Rotary is a major part.  The firm has raised $450,000 for charities and NA will match any fund-raising staff members do.  Caring for the community overall is an important part of the mandate of Nick and his group.

Nick is a Past President of our Club and Paul Harris Fellow.

Nick was introduced by John Fisher and tanked by David Rose.
