Today at Rotary:   Today, we held a club business meeting led by President Brent Shackleton and Rotarian Charleen Gordon. The topic was the proposed 2020 - 2022 Strategic Action Plan. This plan has been in the works for some time by David Dagleash, Charleen Gordan and Brent Shackleton. The goal is for our club to remain a strong and viable club for another 100 years. This proposed Strategic Action Plan has been circulated to the club members by email and now this meeting was an opportunity for  Brent to review it in detail and for members to discuss the proposals in it.

The four Strategic Oblectives are:
         1. Build the Membership
         2. Enrich/Enhance the Club Experience
         3. Financial Sustainability
         4.  Lead by Example

President Brent S. Discussed the” Strategic Action Plan” for the club. Lively discussion ensued.

Besides finding and recruiting new members this plan will focus on training for mentors to work with new members and will offer more fireside chats. It will also explore alternative club meetings considering, for example, one of the monthly meetings being an evening meeting, giving consideration to flexibility and reduced cost while at the same time respecting the desires of existing members. This may result in a trial period.

Plans to enrich the club experience will also look at alternative meeting styles, alternative programs and opportunities to learn about Rotary and the work of the club executive. It will also emphasize the Rotary milestones such as the 25th anniversary of the Dragon Boat Festival,  the coming 100th anniversary of the club. and Rotary district 6330 clubs and activities.

Financial sustainability is in need of our attention too. This plan will work to reduce operating costs and invite Rotarians to support the Rotary foundation of our club.

A vote on the strategic plan will be held at the March 19 meeting.
