Commit

Rotarian Doug Thompson and Pat Feryn along with Pat’s wife, Jane and daughter Tessa will be going to Nicaragua with COMMIT.  They will stay at an orphanage (called NPH). This year initiatives include funds for a bus that will be used by COMMIT and the orphanage. Updating water distribution is another project that is planned for this year, as well as a stove project which will improve indoor air quality in people’s homes. COMMIT is not only a medical group. The village projects will improve people’s lives so they don’t need medical treatment as soon or as often.  Our club has pledged to proceed with a Global Grant to help fund these initiatives and is working with the Rotary Club of Granada. Rotary money was used to start a gardening project this year that will provide an opportunity for the villagers to produce their own nutritious, home grown food.
